Professional Smoke Detector Installation

Alarms where your home has none yet. Our licensed electricians install smoke detectors where the layout needs them, placed to current fire-safety guidance, wired or battery, tested before we leave.

When installation is the job

Rooms without coverage

NFPA and manufacturer guidance calls for a smoke alarm inside each bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of the home. Many houses fall short of that. We walk the layout and fill the gaps.

Where alarms belong

Remodels and additions

A new bedroom, a finished basement or a converted garage needs alarm coverage, and hardwiring new units into an existing interconnected system is electrician work by nature.

Hardwired systems

Upgrading what’s there

Moving from standalone battery units to interconnected alarms, or to sealed 10-year models that never ask for a battery. Installation and replacement in one pass, priced per unit either way.

Placement is half the protection

An alarm in the wrong spot is a false sense of security. We place to NFPA and manufacturer guidance (inside each bedroom, outside sleeping areas, every level including the basement) and we know the practical rules too: distance from kitchens and bathrooms to cut nuisance alarms, ceiling position, and what vaulted ceilings do to smoke behavior.

Every new unit is tested on install, interconnected units are verified against the rest of the set, and you get the manufacture date noted so the ten-year clock is on record from day one. Adding CO coverage at the same time is one more unit on the same visit. CO detector service.

Installation questions

Where should smoke detectors be installed?

Per NFPA and manufacturer guidance: inside each bedroom, outside every sleeping area, and on every level of the home including the basement, with placement that avoids kitchen and bathroom nuisance triggers. We map it room by room on the visit.

Can you add alarms to an existing interconnected system?

Yes, when the new unit is compatible with the system’s interconnect. Brand and model matter. We verify compatibility, wire the addition in, and test that the whole set still sounds together.

Battery or hardwired for new installations?

If the home already has hardwired alarms, additions usually join that system. Where there is no wiring, sealed 10-year battery units give a decade of coverage with no battery swaps. We recommend based on what’s already in the ceiling.

How long does installation take?

Most visits run under an hour, including placement, mounting, any interconnect work, and testing. Larger jobs like a whole-home upgrade get a time estimate along with the per-unit price, before we arrive.
